This is so lovely and so intriguing. We also must have some sort of synchronicity because we just finished up the Mindfully Speaking Newsletter and there is a section in it that I wrote about Norway. I just loved reading your descriptions. Norway is strong in my blood, but I've only been there once, over the summer solstice. I'm dying to see it in the winter.

…: most at home between the brief spells of snow that light up even my pre-dawn runs along the lake. The sun turns much sooner than the season, and January often stretches out black and inky, quiet and cold. There is a thickness to the dark. Sometimes the lake will freeze over and in the early mornings, I can hear the ice churn, as though some invisible hand has thumbed the string of a huge instrument. Cold can catch the wind itself along the shore. There’s no way to take a good photo of the ice-encased reeds shining in the dark, but trust me: it’s a haunting image.
